We asked Jeff about the story on this car and he told us " This is my best friend Phil Ferro's 57 Chevy. We originally built this car with his dad in 1964. Phil was tragically taken from us in 1967 while serving in Vietnam. Phil's widow, Sandie, made the incredibly hard decision to part with the car. I told my wife Georgia. Knowing that Phil is my best friend she simply said, 'buy it'. My wife and I finished the frame off in 2004. Although the car is very different now than when Phil drove it, it will always be his car. Best friends are forever."

Thank you, Jeff, for sharing this incredible story. Keep cruising!

Wally's 1957 210 2-door Sedan

How do you transform a rough, rusted-out '57 from a New Hampshire junkyard into this show-winning beauty? It takes three years of weekends in a buddy's garage ... and a lot of dedication. Just ask Wally.

Despite the rust, the frame was good - so he sandblasted the entire car, disassembled every nut and bolt, and did a total frame-off restoration. This car sports the coveted ZZ4 crate motor, a Moser rear end, Tremek TKO 600 5sp, and 7" Cragars up front and 8" Cragars in the rear. The 650 Speed Demon carb, 2.5" aluminized dual exhaust and Sanderson headers make her sound as good as she looks. Add in the big block Moog springs up front, 5-leaf replacements in the rear, and all new upholstery and you've got the stylin' ride.

So, c'mon, be honest - are you jealous - or just green with envy?

AMP Performance is pleased to have had a small part in this tremendous restoration job - among other things, we got the Tremec for Wally and were honored to give him technical assistance as he needed. When it comes to shopping at AMP, Wally said "I purchased the speedo drive, clutch fork and yoke at a VERY fair price...". We love helping our customers in their resto projects - we only wish they were all close by so that they could come by the shop and give us a ride.

Enjoy the ride, Wally! You've done 'er up right, and we're glad to see that you're enjoying this '57 every bit of the way.

Joel has owned this car since '80, and while he was about ready to give it up in '05, fate would have it that it stayed in the family and has since gone through some exciting changes as he goes the restomod route. Here's what it's shaping up with so far...
  • rebuilt and mod'd 289 w/AFR-165 heads
  • Hooker Comp headers
  • Magnaflow exhaust
  • Holley carb
  • Tremec T5 transmission
  • Autometer Cobalt gauges
  • Shelby-style 10-spoke 16" wheels
  • power windows
As a work in progress, it's got some nice things coming such as a custom-built center console, rack and pinion steering, coilover front suspension and a hydraulic clutch setup. Nice work, Joel, keep us updated on the progress.
